Crocodile Men Papua New Guinea

In Papua New Guinea the men dance naked along the river hitting the garamut beginning the ceremony.
These sounds and movements must be synchronized for the spirit of the king of the crocodiles to appear and possess the initiates.
An adept is led into the depths of the Tambaram.
Once inside, he will be submitted to a sacrifice to be reaffirmed as a member of the community.
A knife is used to cut his back.
The resulting scars simulate scales. 
The adept has complied with the tradition: he is now a crocodile man.
