We attended a celebration of an African tribe called the Himba.
The Himba are an African tribe in northern Namibia.
In any event, the women gather and dance for men in the village.
Komané has her first menstruation - or Esuko - and this is celebrated with a dance
in which the women from all around take part of this Himba population in north of Namibia.
After the dance, the Komané’s father will remove her bracelets and anklets and will cut the girl’s braids: from this moment, she can marry, her parents deciding to whom.
Polygamy is permitted among the Himba. So Komané can have sexual relations with whoever she wants, as long as her husband gives her permission.
