The Galapagos Giant Tortoises

The Galapagos are volcanic islands which surfaced 5 million years ago. The animals that inhabited them have evolved in genuinely unique ways. For example, The Giant Galapagos Tortoises.

Thanks to their special metabolism these tortoises can go a year without drinking. Of course, if there's any water around, they drink it and enjoy it like anyone else.
This tortoise feeds on the fruit that provides the Manzanillo tree, a very toxic tree but not for them.
