Perito Moreno glacier is unusual: instead of moving backwards, as most of the world's glaciers do, it advances forwards. This curious phenomenon is caused by the rupture and release of giant blocks of ice that sail off into the Canal de los Témpanos.

The façade of the glacier is 5 km wide and 60 meters high. It is possible to go into the glacier’s interior, but it is a trip only suitable for hikers in good health and plenty of stamina.

With appropriate clothing and special footwear, hikers complete the dramatic walk in about 4 hours. Walkers are rewarded with views of incredible blue lagoons, deep crevasses and amazing caves, leaving them in no doubt that they are in the very heart of the glacier.

Finally, climbing up one of its nearly vertical walls, the top is reached, from where this natural wonder can be observed. It is one of the best and most impressive experiences in nature.
